About Datakeen

Datakeen is a French identity-verification company that helps banks, insurers and regulated businesses onboard and authenticate their users with confidence. Our platform combines document analysis, biometrics (facematch & liveness) and NFC chip reading into a single, easy-to-integrate journey.

As part of the France Identité "Unfold" / EUDI Wallet ecosystem, Datakeen acts as a Verifier (Relying Party): with the user's consent, we request and verify identity attributes presented from their European Digital Identity Wallet — online and in person.

What this integration does

The Datakeen EUDI Wallet playground lets anyone try, end to end, the three building blocks of a wallet-based identity check. No technical knowledge is required to follow along:

📄 Test credential issuance (EAA) Receive a sample (non-official) credential into the wallet for testing.

Throughout the experience, data minimisation is respected: Datakeen only asks for the exact attributes it needs (for example, "are you over 18?" without revealing the date of birth).

Getting started

1. Sign in to the playground

Open the playground in your browser and sign in. The welcome screen confirms you have reached the Datakeen EUDI Wallet environment.

2. Online verification (OID4VP)

Choose the information you want to share — for example "PID — age over 18 (SD-JWT)", which asks only whether the holder is over 18. A short description explains exactly what each request covers.

Choosing a credential to verify

Click Start verification. A QR code appears. Scan it with your EUDI Wallet app (or tap "Open in wallet" on your phone). The wallet shows you a consent screen; once you approve, the requested attributes are securely sent back and displayed in the playground.

Examples of what can be requested:

  • PID — age over 18 — confirms the age_over_18 attribute only (privacy-preserving).
  • PID — identity — first name, last name and date of birth.
  • mDL — mobile driving licence — driving-licence attributes.

3. In-person / proximity presentation (ISO 18013-5 BLE)

For face-to-face checks, the wallet and the verifier talk directly to each other over Bluetooth — no internet connection is needed. The user opens "Present in person" in their wallet, shows the QR code, and the verifier connects securely to receive the requested attributes.

4. Test credential issuance (EAA)

To make testing easy, the playground includes a test issuer. It can deliver a sample credential into the wallet so the verification flows above can be tried straight away.

⚠️ These are non-qualified test credentials with no legal value — they exist purely to demonstrate the flows.

Deployment

Datakeen's verifier integrates into the France Identité playground through a standard, standards-compliant setup:

  • Protocols: OpenID for Verifiable Presentations (OID4VP 1.0), OpenID for Verifiable Credential Issuance (OID4VCI), and ISO/IEC 18013-5 for in-person (BLE) presentation.
  • Credential formats: SD-JWT VC and ISO mdoc (mso_mdoc).
  • Data minimisation: requests are scoped to the strict minimum (e.g. age_over_18 alone).
  • Hosting: the service runs on Datakeen's infrastructure and exposes the verifier endpoints required by the wallet to fetch the request and return the presentation.

No data is stored beyond what is needed to display the result of a single verification session.

Additional features

Beyond wallet-based presentation, Datakeen offers a complete identity-verification suite that can be combined with the EUDI Wallet flow for higher assurance or as a fallback when a user does not yet have a wallet:

  • 🛂 NFC chip scanning — reads the secure chip embedded in passports and ID cards, supporting both PACE and BAC access protocols.
  • 🙂 Facematch & liveness detection — matches the user's face to their document and confirms a live person is present, with Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) and Injection Attack Detection (IAD) certified to ISO/IEC 30107-3 and CEN/TS 18099.
  • 📄 Identity-document photo & video analysis — analyses ID-card images and video, including security-feature analysis and fraud detection.

These capabilities let Datakeen deliver assurance levels from substantial to high, across both digital-wallet and traditional document-based onboarding.
